about

This is a happy, jaunty and bouncy Western Swing song about the pros and cons of 'Small Town' and 'Big City' living. Marc Desilets and Marc Lamontagne reflect on a 'Tale of Two Cities' or rather a 'Tale of a Small Town and a Big City', in essence the advantages and drawbacks of living in either settings. These two Marc's are separated by 1600 miles and are able to collaborate in writing, recording and producing music in addition to creating supporting videos from their humble studios located in their respective small town of Kapuskasing Ontario and the city of Calgary, Alberta. Enjoy!

lyrics

Big City

Leaves are falling no longer green, red and orange paints the forest scene
Johnny Got his hunting camp all ready to go.
I want to warm up in a long hot bath, pumpkin spice latte for the better half
Why am I in this town? I don’t know

Well, I have have to say it ain’t all that bad, Two Minute walks to any job I’ve had
No traffic or commute for me, more precious time with the family
No Big City things to do, but we learned to paddle our own canoe
Light a campfire in your own backyard, Life here ain’t very hard.

But, it does hurt when I read your paper, I see a concert for my favorite player
If I’m lucky I’ll watch it on the net
And, I do get jealous when you advertise, sales at stores a ten hour drive,
There ain’t no one here that I haven’t met

I feel secluded on this trip, like NASA took me here on a rocket ship
I’m not opposed to pack up and go but there’s one thing you need to know

It took me half the song to realize, we all live under the same blue skies
As long as you're here with me, there’s no place I’d rather be.

It don’t matter where we make our home, we have each other and a love that’s strong
That’s the only thing I’ll ever need
Happily together, living in harmony
Growing old together, that’s the place for me
Yeah!
